Srinagar, Oct 01 (KNO): In ongoing crackdown against the menace of drugs, J&K Police in Kulgam on Wednesday said to have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered substantial quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
A special police party led by Incharge Police Post Mirbazar, under the close supervision of Addl. SP NHW Qazigund Kulgam, was conducting routine patrolling at Baghi Sakloo, Mirbazar, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
During checking, a police party intercepted & apprehended 03 suspicious individuals. On their personal search, police recovered 80 grams of charas and 2.7 kilograms of wet cannabis leaves from their possession, police said, adding that they have been identified as Zahid Bashir Bhat, son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat, resident of Bonpora Nambal, Anantnag, Aidal Ahmad Wani, son of Mohd Iqbal Wani, resident of Khandaypora Krangsoo, Anantnag & Razwan Ahmad Itoo, son of Nazir Ahmad Itoo, resident of Hangalpahlo, Pahalgam, Anantnag.
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 201/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated.
“We urge the general public that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime in your locality, kindly contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from society. We reassure community members that police will act tough against criminals as per law,” police spokesman said—(KNO)
